The Gabriel Hounds are Deborah Clark Colón (fiddle and vocals), Karl Colón (vocals, guitar and stories), Brian McCoy (flute and whistles), Eddie Cotter, Jr. (percussion and vocals), and Irish step dancing world champion John Timm. The Hounds' powerful blend of drive, sensitivity and soul has won them friends, fans and fanatics at clubs and festivals throughout the eastern U.S. from Chicago to Orlando.
Deborah's fiddling is at once passionate, playful and strong, and has won her national recognition in both Irish and Scottish music circles. In addition to Siofra, she has recorded two albums with Inisheer and appears on the 1994 Augusta Irish Week Concert Recording and several other CDs. Karl, formerly of the folk-rock band Pass the Hat, is a veteran musician, recording artist, stage performer and charlatan. His songs, stories and unique sense of humor have delighted audiences across the country. Brian, a virtuoso on the Irish flute, taught for five years at the Milwaukee
Irishfest School, and has performed throughout the U.S. and in Ireland.
Appearances include the Milwaukee, Texas and Florida Irish Festivals, and
Willie Clancy Week. Eddies is famous for both his bodhran (Irish Drum) and
championship Scottish highland side drumming. He also toured nantionally
with a rock band, the Bellows. John is one of only three North American
men ever to win the All-Ireland Senior Men's World Dance Championships.
He also dances with Chieftains, the Green Fields of America and Rhythm in
Shoes.
